KAZA UniVisa: Zimbabwe & Zambia Combined Visa Guide 2026

KAZA UniVisa: Zimbabwe & Zambia Combined Visa Guide 2026

The KAZA UniVisa is a single $50 visa valid for 30 days that grants multiple-entry access to both Zimbabwe and Zambia — ideal for Victoria Falls visitors. It is available on arrival at designated border posts and airports, not online. Over 65 nationalities are eligible for the KAZA UniVisa in 2026.

What Is the KAZA UniVisa?

The KAZA UniVisa (officially: Kavango-Zambezi Transfrontier Conservation Area UniVisa) is a joint tourism visa issued by Zimbabwe and Zambia that allows visitors to cross between both countries as many times as they wish during a 30-day period. The KAZA UniVisa costs $50 USD and is the most convenient option for travelers who want to experience Victoria Falls from both the Zimbabwean and Zambian sides.

Unlike the standard Zimbabwe eVisa, the KAZA UniVisa is not available online. It is issued on arrival at designated entry points only. This is a critical distinction — do not rely on applying for a KAZA UniVisa before your trip through evisa.gov.zw.

Who Is Eligible for the KAZA UniVisa?

The KAZA UniVisa is available to citizens of over 65 countries. Most Western nationals — including travelers from the USA, UK, Canada, Australia, and EU member states — qualify. The KAZA UniVisa is designed for tourism purposes only and cannot be used for business or transit travel.

Below is a sample of eligible nationalities:

Region Eligible Countries (Sample)
North America USA 🇺🇸, Canada 🇨🇦
Europe UK 🇬🇧, Germany 🇩🇪, France 🇫🇷, Italy 🇮🇹, Netherlands 🇳🇱, Spain 🇪🇸
Asia-Pacific Australia 🇦🇺, New Zealand 🇳🇿, Japan 🇯🇵
South America Brazil 🇧🇷, Chile 🇨🇱, Colombia 🇨🇴
Africa (SADC) Some SADC nationals may already be visa-free — check requirements

Note: Citizens of India, China, Pakistan, and several other nations are generally not eligible for the KAZA UniVisa and must obtain separate visas for Zimbabwe and Zambia. Always verify your eligibility at the official Zimbabwe immigration portal before travel.

Where Can You Get the KAZA UniVisa?

The KAZA UniVisa is issued on arrival at the following entry points. No online application exists — you must purchase the KAZA UniVisa in person, in cash (USD), at the port of entry.

Entry Point Country Type
Victoria Falls International Airport Zimbabwe Airport
Victoria Falls Border Post Zimbabwe Land border
Harare Robert Gabriel Mugabe Airport Zimbabwe Airport
Livingstone Airport Zambia Airport
Kazungula Border Post Zambia/Botswana Land border
Kenneth Kaunda International Airport (Lusaka) Zambia Airport

Important: The KAZA UniVisa is not available at Beitbridge (Zimbabwe-South Africa border) or Chirundu. Plan your entry point accordingly.

KAZA UniVisa vs. Standard Zimbabwe eVisa — Which to Choose?

Choosing between the KAZA UniVisa and the standard Zimbabwe eVisa depends entirely on your itinerary. The KAZA UniVisa is the better choice if you intend to cross between Zimbabwe and Zambia — for example, to see Victoria Falls from both sides, go on a Chobe safari from the Zambian side, or take a sunset cruise on the Zambezi.

However, if you are visiting Zimbabwe only — Harare, Great Zimbabwe ruins, Hwange National Park — the standard Zimbabwe eVisa at $30 is the more cost-effective option. A single-entry eVisa will be invalidated if you cross into Zambia and back, making the KAZA UniVisa the smarter investment for cross-border travelers.

Key rule: If you plan any cross-border movement between Zimbabwe and Zambia, always choose the KAZA UniVisa. A standard single-entry Zimbabwe eVisa will not allow re-entry after you cross into Zambia.

Day Trips to Botswana with KAZA UniVisa

One of the most valuable — and least advertised — features of the KAZA UniVisa is its allowance for day trips into Botswana. Specifically, holders of the KAZA UniVisa can cross into Botswana at the Kazungula border for day excursions to Chobe National Park, one of Africa’s premier elephant sanctuaries.

This means a single $50 KAZA UniVisa can unlock three countries: Zimbabwe, Zambia, and Botswana (for day visits). This makes it exceptional value for travelers on a Victoria Falls safari circuit. Note that overnight stays in Botswana require a separate Botswana visa or entry permit.

KAZA UniVisa Requirements & Documents

To obtain the KAZA UniVisa on arrival, prepare the following documents. Immigration officers at KAZA UniVisa-issuing ports are efficient, but having everything ready avoids delays. The KAZA UniVisa requires payment in USD cash — cards are not accepted at most border posts.

  • Valid passport — minimum 6 months validity beyond your travel dates, with at least 2 blank pages
  • $50 USD cash — exact change preferred; card payments are not universally accepted
  • Return or onward ticket — proof you are leaving the region
  • Proof of accommodation — hotel booking or safari lodge confirmation
  • Yellow fever certificate — if arriving from a yellow fever endemic country
